Just before the recent French vote on the EU Constitution, proponents of the 'no' vote used the concept of an old Polish plumber as their mascot (Unease over last year's EU expansion was prompted by fears of job losses to East Europeans willing to work for lower wages - the so-called Polish plumber invasion.)
