Under the Influence of Sangria

Wahoo - I'm in Barcelona! And under the influence of Sangria!
***sidenote from Andy: "Wahoo Sangria!"
Yes, my brother is drunk right now.

Anyhoot, so we're "backpacking" through Europe which for my brother and I means that we're staying in some of the finest hotels in Europe and carrying our clothing in backpacks. This place in Barcelona is so fantastic that they have their own little free internet cafe up on the 9th floor so I can afford the time (and money) to write a slightly longer and more insightful (thanks to Sangria) post.

While I'm on the topic of where we're staying, I'd like to endorse the Chesterfield Mayfair as a top hotel in London. I've stayed in many top hotels (and some not so top) hotels throughout London but I think Chesterfield Mayfair won my heart. It's an adorable little hotel about a block away from Shepherd's Market (so a quick meal is not far away) with a delightful staff (that really makes all the difference) as well as all the amenities that one would expect from a four-star hotel. I know for the majority of readers you'll say this is perhaps too pricey for your style of "backpacking", but if you're looking to travel in London in style, the CM Hotel is the place to stay.

As I skim back on the posts of the last week or so, I can't believe it has only been a week. Seriously, I feel like I've been on some sort of rollercoaster and I'm sure many of you would agree as you have rolled your eyes and me and said "oy!" Anyhoot, this week is up for the award of longest week of my life and I'm seriously glad such nonsense is (hopefully) behind me.

By the way, while certainly not a cure by any means, London is the most amazing place in the world for the brokenhearted. It seems like every other guy on the street is a Jude Law twin and they all have adorable British accents which, for some reason, makes them sound that much more intellectual.

And there's some so alluringly sexy about the Tube, although I can't pinpoint exactly what that might be. Perhaps it's the coming and going of subways in general, people's lives crossing and intersecting if only for the moment's ride, but then again, Barcelona has a Metro and there's nothing so sexy about that. Dirty Spaniards (although still, so beautiful)!

I love that everyone reads on the Tube too. Hugo says that they do so to avoid having to look at one another, but I say, at least they're reading which is more than I can say for Americans. It'd probably be quite interesting to study British media. They have far more newspapers than they do television stations, which I think says something about the culture (and I would elaborate as to what exactly that if I were less a few glasses of sangria). Also, British TV has fewer commercials than American TV and rarely do they interrupt the programming. Wouldn't that be nice, huh?

Speaking of advertising, I love the new Microsoft Office Evolve campaign. It features dinosaurs which run a close second to monkeys when it comes to advertising genius. Check out the website for a look and a laugh.

That's really all I got for now. I suppose I could comment more with topics like Americans are fat or my two cents on the Michael Jackson trial, but nobody would really want to read that and quite frankly, another round of Barcelona fun is calling my name. Off to Las Ramblas! Ciao!
