not-so-deep thoughts of the day

- drove through the smoke of the ga wildfires today on my way from atl to tally. the smoke is unbelievable -- at times, visibility down to maybe .1 of a mile. of course, i've never driven through wildfires (or anywhere close) so this was a first, but it was a truly surreal experience. the smell of warm campfire, the smoke that gets in your eyes and ever so slightly stings, the feeling of ash all about you in the air. like a camping trip gone horrifically wrong.

- ordinary people is one of the greatest movies of all time. of course it's unbelievably depressing and heartwretchingly dramatic, but well acted and a film i've seen a hundred times and would sign up to watch a hundred more. probably the best cry movie ever. it's on hbo right now.

- i miss my brother. can't wait to see him this weekend.

- every eminem song ever. i like eminem well enough. appreciate the way he works with words and rhymes. imho, the villebillies are equally as good if not better (major props for using the word onomatopoeia in a rap song), but that's neither here nor there for now. anyhoot, the video below is worth a good laugh.

- no matter how bad life gets, i think i can consider myself good so long as i don't end up on Maury Povich's "Help Me Find My Baby's Daddy: Paternity Test #11"
