d4

a couple months ago, a lovely little irish pub opened up in my neighborhood. kind of excited by it, i tried it out in the first week or so of it's opening. i mean, my neighborhood has lots of restaurants - super touristy places - but this looked to be like a great local hideaway. a true neighborhood restaurant.

sure enough, the food is great. fantastic fish & chips. delicious bread. nice servers. first-rate atmosphere. relatively authentic. sorta. a really really nice blend of neighborhood restaurant and irish pub.

to my point, the restaurant is a local favorite of mine, but now i'm kinda even more impressed. apparently, d4 (the restaurant) is hosting one of the copies of the book of kells. how flippin' awesome is that? i remember seeing the original manuscript at trinity college way back in the day. from that 1480 copies were made -- most reside in libraries and museums, but somehow one made it into my neighborhood restaurant.

like i said, i'm kinda impressed.
