updates on life

• alaska was amazing, in case i haven't said that enough already. i'm a new wealth of knowledge about juneau, skagway, ketchikan, etc. did you know that in juneau the building that contains the post office has a ground level, 1st floor and 2nd floor? this is because the post office was set up on the third floor originally and then they found out that there's some kooky law that says post offices can be no higher than a 2nd floor. so instead of moving the whole post office, they "re-numbered" the floors. now you know.
• nashville was fantastic too. i bought a hat. i was down there for the cma music fest which was fantastic. country music sounds pretty okay in person. and we saw keith urban, faith hill, rascal flatts, etc. amazingness. despite the million degree heat, everyone was super polite and nice and drunk. we had a great time.
• back to running. slow but sure. the hips still feel a bit funky but i think i just need to shake things out a bit. 3 miles last night felt glorious. at least in retrospect. at the time, i remember thinking "wow, i don't remember running being this hard", "damn it's hot out", "i'm an idiot to be wearing a long sleeve shirt", "everyone is faster than me", "my music sucks tonight", "are we there yet?". will spend the week working my way back up to where i'm supposed to be. maybe 10-12 miles by sunday?
• my agency/account team/etc. won what's generally accepted as the biggest award in advertising. pretty flippin' cool. our client is happy. so are we. maybe we'll all still have jobs for another week.
