why you were not invited to that meeting

oh the horror! you were not invited to another meeting to fill your day. before you go around bitching to various people about not being a part of the "cool club", let's consider why people don't invite others to meetings. the way i see it, there are just three reasons.

1. said inviter is totally incompetent at their job and is afraid you'll come in, find their achilles ' heel, and steal their job. lots of these people exist. fortunately not too many at my agency. these people generally work themselves out of the system.
2. you smell funny.
3. said inviter does not understand the value of you being in the meeting, either to the effectiveness of the meeting or to the edification of yourself because you don't do a good enough job marketing your value to your peers/colleagues/coworkers/etc.
   

when you work in advertising, reason #3 should be considered sin.
