rant: morning runs

some awful devil spirit inspired me to get up and go for a run this morning. "who actually does that?," you ask. i was asking myself the same exact thing for a good half hour this morning. and i got to see through my fellow companions on the lakefront path. it goes without saying, they were all nut jobs and wackos.

seriously, there's nothing fun or good or refreshing about morning runs. i started out and my body was moving faster than my heart and lungs were prepared to deal with. then i just got tired. then hungry. then really thirsty. then just tired again and finally totally crappy but at least i was done. watching the sun come up over the lake was nice i suppose although if you're only running for 3 miles you don't really see it move all that much. and there's little in the way of people scenery at that hour. no interesting random groups, no ridiculously hot bodies, no clowns/people dressed in costume/et al. just your standard serious runners, people clearly just starting (and about to stop) their diet/exercise program, old people walking, and the occasional tour de francer. yes, those crazy bikers that everyone hates have a name.

some miles are a bit longer than others
